How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Boundary-eliminated Chebyshev collocation for a two-point Dirichlet BVP

Definition

Input an integer N≥2, real functions a,b,f given at the Chebyshev–Gauss–Lobatto nodes xj=cos⁡(jπ/N), and endpoint data g−,g+∈R. The continuous BVP being discretized is

−u′′(x)+a(x)u′(x)+b(x)u(x)=f(x),−1<x<1,u(−1)=g−,u(1)=g+.

The finite algorithm uses only the values at the nodes and does not assume a continuous BVP solvability theorem. Construct the matrix used internally by Chebyshev–Gauss–Lobatto polynomial differentiation matrix explicitly: form Lj(x)=∏0≤k≤N, k≠j(x−xk)/(xj−xk) and set (DN)ij=Lj′(xi) for 0≤i,j≤N. Then set DN(2)=DNDN. For each interior row i=1,…,N−1 and each column j=0,…,N, put

Cij=−(DN(2))ij+a(xi)(DN)ij+b(xi)δij.

Let A=(Cij)1≤i,j≤N−1 and ri=f(xi)−Ci0g+−CiNg−. If A is singular, return status singular-interior-matrix and the matrix A. If A is invertible, solve AUI=r, set U0=g+ and UN=g−, and return success with U=(U0,U1,…,UN). This exact-arithmetic finite solve asserts no unconditional nonsingularity, stability, convergence, or PDE error bound.

9 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
