Alphabeta Math

Privacy

Alphabeta Math is a reading site. Reading requires no account, sets no cookies, and shows no ads. The dashboard and the mobile app offer an optional sign-in, described below. This page lists everything the site stores or transmits, in full.

On your device

The mobile app keeps your bookmarks, notes, study goals and reading positions in its own storage on your device, signed in or not — they are never sent to us or to anyone else, and uninstalling the app removes them.

Optional account

The website's dashboard and the mobile app can sign in with a Google account. This is optional; nothing on the site or in the app requires it to read. When you sign in we store the name, email address and profile picture Google provides, plus sign-in sessions. On the website, signing in sets a session cookie, and the goals, bookmarks, study lists and got-it marks you create in the dashboard are stored with your account so they follow you across devices. The app's sign-in handshake instead sets one temporary cookie on this domain that expires within minutes; its study data stays on the device. You can permanently delete the sign-in and associated server data from the app's Settings or the public account-deletion page.

AI subscription

Google Play processes subscriptions bought in the Android app. We receive and store the opaque Play purchase token, lifecycle status and paid period; the token is the credential that unlocks AI without an account. Creem, our merchant of record, processes website subscriptions. We store the Creem checkout email, status and paid period. Card details from either route never reach us. Signing in starts a one-time 3-day account trial.

AI questions and uploads

Questions are sent to our server with the library item they concern. Proofs submitted for checking — typed text, photos or PDFs — are sent for transcription and verification. Our server does not save ordinary questions, uploads or answers. Text is processed by DeepSeek and may be stored by it in the People's Republic of China. Photo transcription passes through the Singapore-operated ofox.ai gateway to Google Gemini. Those processors may keep limited operational or abuse- monitoring records under their policies; do not submit personal, confidential or sensitive material. A PDF is extracted on our server, and only the text you confirm is sent to the reasoning provider. To ground proof answers, our server may also search open mathematical references (Wikipedia, the Encyclopedia of Mathematics, nLab) using terms drawn from your submission — those sites see the search terms, never your account. If you deliberately report an AI answer, its question and answer are emailed to the maintainer for review.

Analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and counts page views in aggregate without profiling visitors or tracking them across sites. It is the only automatic third-party browser request on an ordinary reading page.

What you send us

The contact form, the per-page issue reports, and the mobile app's feedback form are delivered to the maintainer by email, including whatever name and address you chose to give, and are used only to reply and to fix what was reported. An AI-answer report includes the question and answer after a separate confirmation.

Deletion and retention

Account deletion removes the Alphabeta sign-in, profile, sessions and server-stored study data. It does not cancel a subscription or remove local app data. We retain the minimum subscription record needed for accounting, charge disputes, fraud prevention and legal obligations: a provider reference or Play purchase token, status, paid period and, for a website subscription, its checkout email. Those records are kept for five years to meet Australian accounting and tax requirements, then deleted. We also retain a one-way HMAC marker that the Google identity used its one free trial. The marker contains no email or raw Google identifier, cannot sign anyone in, and remains only while the one-trial programme needs enforcement. Feedback and issue-report emails are handled separately from the account and can be requested for deletion through the contact page, subject to legal retention requirements.

Hosting

The site is served through Cloudflare, whose infrastructure keeps short-lived operational logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the service. We do not use these to identify visitors.
