How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Scaled complex Householder reflector step with explicit range status

Definition

For a stored complex column x∈Cm, m≥1, and block B∈Cm×q, q≥0, call the Householder branch of Scaled real and complex Householder and Givens update arithmetic on [x  B]. This is the canonical scaled real-component norm and separately scaled phase-modulus realization, with fixed sequential dots, real-coefficient multiplication, complex product and subtraction order. It includes the exact target-column overwrite. Return its (v,τ^,α^,x^,B^) on success; a zero column returns identity, zero column and copied B. Report an invalid/nonpositive stored-vector norm as breakdown; every other invalid/out-of-range operation returns range-failure with its operation index and partial values.

The exact representative is P(v)=I−2vv∗/(v∗v) for nonzero stored v. Store this product representation rather than identifying the rounded rank-one action with an exactly unitary dense matrix. For polynomial-vector initialization, form the reflector from that external vector and use its separate-block application on the entire active row panel; do not overwrite an unrelated matrix column. The proof-backed target and separate-block coefficients are supplied by Scaled complex Householder and Givens steps have explicit local backward errors.

Dependency tree · two levels

6 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
