How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Exact Padé coefficient matching with defect statuses
Definition
Input nonnegative integers and coefficients of a formal power series or of an analytic function at . Set for negative . Seek a normalized denominator . Form the moment system Classify it by exact Gaussian elimination on the augmented matrix. Start with pivot row and scan columns in order. In column , if all entries in rows through are zero, leave that column free and continue. Otherwise choose the first row with a nonzero entry in column , swap rows and , divide row by its column- entry, and subtract the resulting row multiple from every other row to make the other entries in column zero; then increment . After all columns, a row whose coefficient entries are all zero and whose augmented entry is nonzero makes the system inconsistent, so return status . If the system is consistent but has rank less than , return status together with the rank and reduced system; do not select a denominator from its affine solution set. Here rank is the number of pivot rows; consistency and rank are read from the reduced augmented matrix. If the system has rank , return status and the unique solution and set The output is the coefficient-matching candidate with its full-order status. If , return status with the empty denominator system's unique solution and numerator coefficients for . This procedure claims no pole-location or analytic-continuation guarantee.
