How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Base-b Haar contrasts and multiresolution ANOVA components

Definition

Let b≥2 and d≥1 be integers. For integers k≥0 and 0≤t<bk, put Ik,t=[tb−k,(t+1)b−k). For an integer 1≤r<b, define the normalized base-b Haar contrast hk,t,r(x)=bk+1r(r+1)(∑c=0r−11Ik+1,bt+c(x)−r1Ik+1,bt+r(x)).

For a nonempty subset u⊆{1,…,d}, let κ=(kj)j∈u, τ=(tj)j∈u, and ρ=(rj)j∈u have integer entries satisfying kj≥0, 0≤tj<bkj, and 1≤rj<b. Set ψu,κ,τ,ρ(x)=∏j∈uhkj,tj,rj(xj). For a real Borel function f∈L2([0,1)d), define I(f)=∫[0,1)df(x) dx,νu,κ(f)=∑τ,ρ(∫[0,1)df(x)ψu,κ,τ,ρ(x) dx)ψu,κ,τ,ρ,σu,κ2(f)=∫[0,1)dνu,κ(f)2 dx. The sums defining each νu,κ are finite. The complete orthogonal decomposition across all u,κ is established separately.

Dependency tree · two levels

4 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
