How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

False discovery proportion, FDR, and FWER

Definition

Let m≥1 be a finite number of hypotheses and write [m]={1,…,m}. Fix a probability law P and a set I0⊆[m] of indices whose null hypotheses are true under P. A measurable rejection rule is a measurable map R:Ω→2[m], where the finite set 2[m] has its discrete sigma-algebra. Set

R=∣R∣,V=∣R∩I0∣.

The false discovery proportion is

FDP⁡:=VR∨1,R∨1:=max⁡(R,1),

and the false discovery rate is

FDR⁡:=EP ⁣[VR∨1].

The family-wise error rate is

FWER⁡:=P(V≥1).

Since V≤R whenever R>0 and V=0 when R=0, the FDP is a measurable random variable in [0,1] and its expectation is finite. These definitions use the fixed true-null set for the specified law; they do not assert that FDR and FWER are equal except in the global-null case.

7 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
