How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
The formal Bernstein presentation for a reduced based root datum
Definition
Let be as in Abstract root data and their Weyl groups, with finite Weyl group . Use the finite simple-reflection set specified in The Iwahori–Matsumoto affine Hecke algebra of a based root datum, where generates and is contained in . For , let be the order of in , which is finite because is finite. The group algebra is the complex vector space with basis and multiplication ; its identity is . The simple reflection corresponding to acts on by .
Write . For each simple root , also supply a positive scalar ; it is the second parameter in the doubled-root rank-one Bernstein relation. This additional scalar is formal input to the presentation. To compare this presentation with a specified , its parameters must be attached: require , where is the positive square root of the parameter of its wall reflection, well defined by Canonical affine geometry and wall parameters of a root datum. The finite parameter is already . Without this tie one is defining a formal Bernstein algebra, not asserting comparison with the fixed . When , no second parameter is used; the wall-parameter lemma proves the two wall classes have equal parameters.
Define the formal Bernstein algebra as the quotient of the free associative -algebra on and by , for , the finite Hecke relations, and the following cross-relation for each and . Here from The Iwahori–Matsumoto affine Hecke algebra of a based root datum, and the finite Hecke relations are for and equality of the alternating products of of length for distinct (Universal parameters, the generic Coxeter Hecke algebra and generator conjugacy):
The quotients are interpreted in ; their well-definedness is proved in The Bernstein cross-relation quotients are Laurent polynomials ↗. The quotient construction defines an associative algebra. It does not assert that is nonzero, has a PBW basis, or is isomorphic to the Iwahori–Matsumoto algebra of The Iwahori–Matsumoto affine Hecke algebra of a based root datum.

17 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
