How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Indicator-response least-squares classification

Definition

Let n,q≥1 and K≥2 be finite integers. For a fixed design matrix X∈Rn×q and labels yi∈{1,…,K}, form the indicator response matrix Y∈Rn×K by Yik=1 when yi=k and Yik=0 otherwise. For a coefficient matrix B∈Rq×K, set L(B)=(2n)−1∥Y−XB∥F2, where ∥A∥F2 is the sum of squares of all entries of A. Let B∗ be the least-squares minimizer with smallest Frobenius norm. For a new row vector xT∈R1×q, the indicator-response classifier assigns scores (xTB∗)k and predicts the smallest class index attaining their maximum. An intercept, if used, is one of the columns of X; no rank assumption is imposed on X.

Dependency tree · one level

1 result within one dependency step of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
