How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Conditional information variance and DMC dispersion

Definition

Let P be an input probability vector for the finite DMC W, and let PY(y)=∑xP(x)W(y∣x). On cells with P(x)W(y∣x)>0, define ıP(x;y)=ln⁡[W(y∣x)/PY(y)]; the denominator is then positive. Put V(P,W):=∑x:P(x)>0P(x)Var⁡W(⋅∣x)[ıP(x;Y)]. Let C(W)=max⁡PI(P,W) and Π(W)={P:I(P,W)=C(W)}, the nonempty set of capacity-achieving input distributions. Define Vmin⁡(W):=min⁡P∈Π(W)V(P,W),Vmax⁡(W):=max⁡P∈Π(W)V(P,W). The local attainment lemma DMC minimum and maximum dispersion are attained ↗ proves these extrema exist. Dispersion is measured in nats squared. In the normal-approximation theorem on this page only the fixed range 0<ϵ<1/2 and premise Vmin⁡(W)>0 are used.

Dependency tree · two levels

7 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result. Click elsewhere on the chart to enlarge it.
