How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Known-state/action MDP with prescribed absorbing values

Definition

Let M be a bounded-reward finite discounted MDP with discount γ, let K⊆D be a set of known state-action pairs, and let q:D→[0,Vmax⁡] with Vmax⁡≤(1−γ)−1. The known-state/action MDP MK(q) agrees with M on every pair in K. For each pair (s,a)∉K, add a distinct absorbing state ⊥s,a with one admissible action. The unknown pair transitions deterministically to ⊥s,a and gives deterministic reward (1−γ)q(s,a); the sink action self-loops with the same deterministic reward (1−γ)q(s,a). These rewards lie in [0,1]. The sink state's value is q(s,a), so the unknown pair's Bellman backup is exactly (1−γ)q(s,a)+γq(s,a)=q(s,a), independent of the value function on the original states.

Dependency tree · two levels

24 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
