How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

The CIR Lamperti step remains positive from the boundary value

Statement

Let κ,θ,σ,h>0 satisfy 2κθ≥σ2. Starting the numerical Lamperti state at the boundary value zn=0, even a negative Brownian increment ΔWn=−r with arbitrary r≥0 gives a strictly positive next state under the CIR scheme.

Facts & Assumptions

Given: AC, positive parameters satisfying the Feller condition, zn=0, and ΔWn=−r for r≥0.

[F1]

Put a=(4κθ−σ2)/8, A=1+κh/2, and c=zn+σΔWn/2. The scheme returns (c+c2+4Aah)/(2A). Positive Lamperti drift-implicit scheme for the CIR process

[F2]

Under κ,θ,σ>0 and 2κθ≥σ2, a>0 and the displayed root is the unique positive solution of the drift-implicit Lamperti equation for every zn≥0 and finite increment. CIR Lamperti equation and unique positive implicit root

[A1]

AC is inherited from the numerical Brownian and algebraic interfaces. The Axiom of Choice

Proof

Given: The hypotheses and supplier statements above.

1.1F1F2givenalgebra

From the parameter assumptions, 4κθ−σ2≥σ2>0, so a>0; also A=1+κh/2>0. With zn=0 and ΔWn=−r, c=−σr/2≤0.

2.1A1F1F2step 1.1givenalgebra∎

Since 4Aah>0, c2+4Aah>∣c∣=σr/2. Therefore the numerator c+c2+4Aah and denominator 2A are both strictly positive, so the algorithm's next Lamperti state is positive. Its square is also strictly positive. The uniqueness and equation interpretation follow from [F2], including the case r=0. AC is exactly [A1].

Dependency tree · two levels

8 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
