How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
An irrational D=3 massive spin descends to no finite cover
Example
In , take the universal Lorentz cover and a future timelike momentum , . Its massive little group is , with coordinate normalized so the deck generator is . The character
defines an irreducible positive-energy induced Poincaré representation. It descends to no finite connected Lorentz cover , .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: , , , and the universal Lorentz cover.
Global Lorentz stabilizers and their connected-cover preimages: the universal-cover massive stabilizer is , its deck generator has coordinate , and the finite connected covers are .
Positive-energy Wigner–Mackey classification for connected covers: a character of the massive little group over induces an irreducible positive-energy representation.
Central kernel characters control descent of Poincaré inductions: descent from the universal cover to occurs exactly when the little-group character is trivial on .
AC is assumed through [F2] and [F3]. The Axiom of Choice
Proof
Given: and the groups and character in the Example.
The map is a continuous one-dimensional unitary character of the additive group , so it is irreducible. The momentum is future timelike and lies in . Applying [F2] gives an irreducible positive-energy induced representation on the universal cover.
By [F1], has little-group coordinate . Its character value is . By [F3], descent to would require .
No positive integer satisfies this condition. If , then is rational. To recall the elementary contradiction, write in lowest positive terms; makes even, then makes even, contradicting coprimality. Thus the representation fails the descent test for every finite .

Dependency tree · two levels
31 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
