How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Nonsingularity of the Casson–Gordon twisted intersection form
Statement
Assume AC. Let be a Casson–Gordon bordism datum for a prime-power order character, and let be its regular cover with deck action . After the boundary capping that kills the meridian-class radical, the twisted intersection form on is a nonsingular Hermitian form for the involution . The capping preserves the module used in the Witt-class construction.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: AC and the stated smooth Casson–Gordon multiple bounding datum, with its actual extending character pair.
Its boundary components are the marked zero-surgery covers from the bordism convention. Torsion linking form and Casson–Gordon bordism data, Prime-power characters admit a multiple bounding bordism
Their prime-power character systems over are acyclic. The full finite-matrix specialization proof also identifies the cover-tensor module with actual local chain homology. Prime-power character twists of knot and disk covers are acyclic
Local duality identifies the absolute-to-relative map with the middle Hermitian form, and the radical is exactly the boundary image. The field Witt-form construction and its ordinary nonsingular quotient are proved explicitly. Unitary field Witt forms respect bordism and whole-boundary gluing
The Axiom of Choice is retained.
Proof
The deck group includes an infinite cyclic factor. Thus its regular cover is not a finite-sheeted cover: the free coordinate takes the boundary meridian to one and gives arbitrarily many different sheets. Use the regular cover and the rank-one character projection followed by Laurent-field localization specified in [F2]. Its exactness identifies the module in the Statement with .
By [F2], in every degree. The actual pair sequence therefore identifies with . By [F3] the latter is its conjugate dual, with this map exactly the intersection pairing. It follows that the pairing is nonsingular. The involution in [F2] is precisely complex conjugation with , so the pairing is Hermitian in the stated convention.
To spell out the boundary cap, split each finite-dimensional boundary chain group into its cycles and a complement; the differential on that complement is an isomorphism to the preceding boundary space. Its inverses give a contraction of the acyclic boundary complex. The quotient from absolute to relative chains consequently has contractible kernel and preserves the absolute middle homology. This algebraic Poincare cap is enough for the Witt construction; it changes neither its module nor its pairing. The ordinary form, which need not be nonsingular on all ordinary , instead uses [F3]'s quotient by its boundary radical. These are distinct operations, and no nonexistent finite -cover or geometric attachment preserving a singular ordinary form has been assumed.

14 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
