How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Convergent power series differentiate term by term inside their radius
Statement
Let and let be real coefficients such that for every both and converge. Then is differentiable for , with
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The two absolute-convergence assumptions in the Statement.
Proof
Fix with and choose with . For and each , so every term has modulus at most and the quotient has modulus at most . Therefore the tail after degree of the difference-quotient series is bounded uniformly in such by . The tail of the proposed derivative series at has the same bound.
Given , choose so both tail bounds in step 1.1 are below . The finite polynomial has derivative at , so choose small enough that its difference quotient differs from this derivative by less than . The full difference quotient and full derivative series then differ by less than by the two tails and this finite-polynomial bound. This proves differentiability and the displayed derivative formula.
