How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Bonferroni simultaneous coverage
Statement
Let be a statistical experiment (Statistical experiments) with nonempty parameter set . Fix coordinate targets and procedures , , where denotes the set of all subsets of . For every , suppose each membership event belongs to and has marginal coverage where and . Then, for every , Thus the family of marginal confidence sets has simultaneous coverage at least . No independence assumption is needed.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: A statistical experiment with nonempty parameter set, a fixed finite family of targets and procedures, measurable membership events for every and , and marginal coverage bounds with .
Statistical experiments: for each , is a probability measure on the sample sigma-algebra.
Confidence sets and coverage: a confidence-set procedure has a measurable membership section for every candidate parameter, and its coverage at is the probability that the reported set contains .
Basic identities for a probability measure: complements satisfy , and a finite union of measurable events has probability at most the sum of their probabilities.
For every and , and .
Proof
Given: The experiment with nonempty parameter set, targets, confidence procedures, and marginal coverage assumptions in the statement.
For each , define the induced full-parameter confidence set . Each membership section of is , measurable by [A1], so [F2] applies and its coverage at is . The miss event is measurable and, by [F3], satisfies .
Failure of simultaneous coverage is . By finite subadditivity [F3] and step 1.1, its probability is at most . Taking the complement gives the stated simultaneous coverage bound. This argument allows the membership events to be dependent.

15 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
