How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Finite Potts Swendsen–Wang update

Definition

Input a finite simple graph G=(V,E), an integer Q≥2, finite activities ve≥0 for e∈E, and a spin configuration σ:V→[Q], using the Potts and FK conventions of the finite Potts/FK weight definition. For each edge e={u,v}, if σ(u)≠σ(v) set e absent. If σ(u)=σ(v), draw an independent uniform Ue∈[0,1] and place e in A exactly when Ue<ve/(1+ve). For each connected component of (V,A), draw an independent uniform UC∈[0,1] and assign its vertices the common color 1+⌊QUC⌋, with the value Q used when UC=1. Return the resulting spin configuration σ′. The finite graph has finitely many edges and components, so the procedure uses finitely many draws and operations. At ve=0 the edge is never activated; finite ve ensures the activation probability is less than one.

Remarks

The algorithm defines one full update of a finite-state chain. Its definition asserts neither rapid mixing nor any bound uniform in graph size, temperature, or critical parameters.
