How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite compatible leapfrog evolution
Definition
Use the finite cochain data fixed by the preceding definition item, namely finite real coordinate spaces , maps with , and symmetric positive-definite mass maps . Inputs are rational matrices , rational initial coordinates and , a positive rational step size , and an integer . The matrices and states use the fixed ordered bases and dual bases from that definition. All arithmetic is exact over ; floating-point arithmetic is not part of this algorithm.
First compute once by fixed-order, no-row-swap Gauss–Jordan elimination of the augmented matrix . For each pivot column , let be the current entry in position . If , return an inconsistency error. Otherwise divide row by and, for every , replace row by row minus its current column- entry times row . After all columns are processed, let be the right block. For , take the unique empty matrix for and perform no elimination.
Set and record this initial state. For each , in the stated order compute
Append to the output list and then set . After the loop, return together with the list of the states for . The error branch is unreachable on admissible inputs; the separate finite-step termination lemma proves this and the exact inverse output.

Remarks
The update uses the state order and this ordering fixes the sign of the cross term in its invariant. Positive definiteness makes every pivot in the fixed no-row-swap schedule nonzero; the separate lemma proves this by Schur-complement induction. The source’s Whitney finite-element leapfrog has its own spaces, mass matrices, boundary conditions and CFL hypotheses. This algorithm makes no claim of being its spatial discretization or of giving a continuum stability or convergence result.
