How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Small invariants do not alone control derivative corrections
Statement refuted
In coordinates on Minkowski with and orientation , define and . The refuted assertion is: for every fixed finite and every family of smooth exact real two-forms on (that is, for a smooth real one-form ), if as , then there exist and such that for every . The assertion says that small invariant corrections alone give a local uniform bound on this derivative scale.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: Minkowski with length coordinates , metric , orientation , fixed positive scales , fixed finite , and .
Nonlinear electromagnetic constitutive model with a Lagrangian defines and and allows arbitrary fixed coefficients in . If and the fixed scale have unit , then and ; the definition makes no claim of derivative control from these invariants.
Lorentzian exterior calculus and Hodge star gives the Lorentzian Hodge component formula. For the simple two-form , its dual has only the complementary component, so its contraction with is zero.
is a fixed field-strength scale with unit , is a fixed length scale, and is a fixed inverse-length scale; thus has the local-potential component units in length coordinates. The fixed finite coefficients have units , and is dimensionless. No coefficient is assigned a QED value.
Counterexample
Define the smooth one-form and its curvature .
Differentiating the coefficient gives It is exact, smooth for every , and . It is a valid curvature configuration; no field equation is claimed.
Put . The only nonzero independent component is , and raising indices with gives . Hence and . By [F2], .
Since , , which tends to zero. Direct differentiation gives whose supremum is ; the phase wave number is . Thus both the derivative supremum and diverge.
The family has invariant corrections tending uniformly to zero while diverges by step 2.1. It therefore contradicts the refuted uniform derivative-bound implication. A derivative-truncation criterion must state its own derivative hypotheses and cutoff; the invariant inequalities alone do not provide them.
Remarks
This is a smooth field configuration with a global potential and no singularities. It is not asserted to solve the nonlinear constitutive equation or represent an observation. The example neither evaluates an effective-action coefficient nor supplies a QED threshold.
