How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
CLs ratio for source-specified signal exclusions
Pure statistical-mathematical definition of a source-specified exclusion statistic; it makes no physical or empirical claim.
Definition
Let be a data space with two supplied probability laws and for the background-only and signal-plus-background hypotheses. Fix a statistic for which larger values are more incompatible with the signal-plus-background hypothesis and for which every upper-tail set is measurable. For observed datum , set and define When , the modified-frequentist exclusion ratio is A reported exclusion rule at threshold excludes a specified signal-plus-background hypothesis when its supplied analysis has . The likelihood ratio, test statistic, nuisance treatment, and sampling laws are part of the specified analysis. The ratio is not itself a probability or a frequentist coverage level; in the cited method it is a conservative, frequentist-motivated approximation used to present exclusion results. It does not give the probability that a signal model is true or false.
