How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite-jet local operators and engineering dimension
Definition
Use natural units on four-dimensional Minkowski space with coordinates and metric . Fix a complex affine algebraic group with no nontrivial closed normal unipotent subgroup, where unipotent means that every nonzero finite-dimensional rational module has a nonzero fixed vector; this is the reductive hypothesis. Fix a finite set of field species. For each , fix a finite-dimensional complex -graded vector space with a homogeneous basis and its component parities, and an algebraic representation preserving the grading. Include the declared spacetime-index action in or in its specified finite-dimensional representation data.
For the field interpretation, fix a finite Grassmann coefficient algebra , , with its usual grading by generator degree modulo two. A field configuration assigns to each homogeneous component of parity a function whose coefficient at each exterior monomial is smooth; spacetime derivatives are taken coefficientwise. Evaluation of a polynomial on an -jet means the parity-preserving algebra homomorphism that sends each polynomial coordinate to the corresponding field component or derivative at that point.
Fix a derivative cutoff , a maximum polynomial field degree , and a rational engineering weight for each field species. A derivative has engineering weight one, and an -jet generator is a component of for . If covariant derivatives are used, their finite jet generators and -action are included explicitly in the same data. Let be the resulting finite-dimensional -graded vector space with its specified algebraic representation , required to preserve the grading and the assigned engineering weights. Its polynomial algebra is the supercommutative algebra : even generators commute and odd generators anticommute. The induced left -action on is for , , and . For a fixed weight , let be the complex span of monomials of total engineering weight and total polynomial degree at most .
A local operator in this finite-order data is an element of evaluated at on the -jet of the fields. A scalar operator invariant under the declared symmetries is an element of . Engineering dimension means this assigned mass weight; it is not a statement about an observed quantity. In four dimensions a term with operator has the convention , where has mass dimension one and is dimensionless. Reality conditions, when required for a real action, are additional conjugation data on .
