How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite-regulator Wilsonian action
Finite-dimensional high-coordinate integration at a declared Wilsonian scale; no infinite-dimensional functional integral or continuum limit is asserted.
Definition
Take a finite-regulator model datum with retained coordinates , integrated coordinates , a normalized Borel probability measure on the finite-dimensional -space, and a real Borel ultraviolet action . For each retained configuration define
On the domain of for which , the finite-regulator Wilsonian action at scale is
Thus “integrating out” the high sector means this specified finite integral over while is held fixed. The measure, action, regulator, and low/high split are inputs; the definition does not assert that every interacting model has a finite or well-defined integral. Replacing by a positive constant multiple changes only by an additive constant independent of , which is fixed by the chosen normalization convention.
For comparison, fix the following finite Euclidean convention for a one-particle-irreducible (1PI) effective action. Separately supply a Borel probability on the retained space , and pair a source with by , with source units chosen to make the pairing dimensionless. On a nonempty open set require and define the connected source-generating function . Require to be on and its gradient to be a diffeomorphism onto an open set (a bijection with continuously differentiable map and inverse). For set and define the Legendre transform . This defines the finite Euclidean 1PI action on under these additional hypotheses; no graph expansion or existence of these additional data is asserted. It is a different construction from the high-coordinate integral above, which needs none of .
