How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Boolean algebras and their order
Definition
In ZF, a Boolean algebra is a set with binary operations , a unary operation , and elements , satisfying the bounded distributive lattice laws and
Explicitly, both binary operations are associative, commutative and idempotent; they satisfy absorption and both distributive laws; , , and . Its order is if , equivalently .
The algebra is nonempty because its bounds are elements. We allow , in which case every equals . This one-element algebra is called trivial. Otherwise the algebra is nontrivial. The empty join is and the empty meet is .
All Boolean homomorphisms in this development preserve both bounds, as well as the operations.
