How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Universal Clifford algebra of a quadratic space
Definition
Let be a field with , let be a finite-dimensional -vector space, and let be a symmetric bilinear form, not necessarily nondegenerate. Put . Write for the tensor algebra and for its degree-one inclusion (Tensor algebra of a vector space). For each , set and let be the intersection of all two-sided ideals of containing every (Left, right and two-sided ideals). This family is nonempty because it contains , and its intersection is a two-sided ideal; thus is the smallest such ideal.
Define the universal Clifford algebra with the plus- convention by
The quotient operations are induced from ; the two-sided ideal condition makes multiplication of cosets well defined. Let be the quotient map, put , and write . The defining relation is . In this pair, abbreviates after this sign convention has been fixed. No nondegeneracy assumption is imposed.
