How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Finite-range lattice interaction and conditional energy

Definition

Fix an integer dimension d≥1 and a finite nonempty alphabet A. A configuration is a function σ:Zd→A. An interaction list consists of a finite index set R and, for each r∈R, a finite nonempty shape Sr⊂Zd containing 0 and a function Φr:ASr→R. The index r is part of the data: two equal shapes with different indices represent two terms and are both counted. Every translate x+Sr contributes once, with value Φr((σx+y)y∈Sr).

The range is R=max⁡r∈Rdiam⁡∞(Sr), with R=0 when R is empty. For finite Λ⊂Zd, define the free-volume energy and the energy conditioned on an exterior configuration η∈AΛc by HΛfree(σ)=∑r∈R ∑x:x+Sr⊆ΛΦr(σx+Sr),EΛ(τΛ∣η)=∑r∈R ∑x:(x+Sr)∩Λ≠∅Φr((τΛη)x+Sr). Here τΛ∈AΛ, and τΛη∈AZd is the concatenated configuration equal to τΛ on Λ and to η on Λc. These are finite sums: for each finite shape Sr, only finitely many anchors x make x+Sr meet Λ. Terms meeting Λ but not contained in it appear in the conditional energy and not in the free-volume energy. The definitions are mathematical and assign no physical units; a physical model must state its units separately.
