How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Two-velocity periodic diffusive-scaling model

Definition

Fix a period L>0 metres and let TL:=R/(LZ). A smooth periodic function on TL means an L-periodic C∞ function on R. For a periodic measurable function g with ∫0L∣g(x)∣2 dx<∞, use the normalized spatial measure dmL=dx/L on a period and write

∥g∥2,L2:=1L∫0L∣g(x)∣2 dx.

Elements of L2(TL,dmL;C) are equivalence classes modulo equality almost everywhere. For n∈Z, define the wave number κn:=2πn/L, character en(x):=exp⁡(iκnx), and Fourier coefficient g^(n):=L−1∫0Lg(x)e−iκnx dx. These formulas are independent of the chosen representative of x in TL.

Let c>0 be a speed in m s−1, let λ>0 be a switching-rate parameter in s−1, and let ϵ>0 be dimensionless. For smooth real initial data f+,0,f−,0 on TL, the two-velocity periodic model is the linear Cauchy problem below; when these functions represent physical densities, also require f±,0≥0.

∂tf+ϵ+cϵ∂xf+ϵ=λϵ2(f−ϵ−f+ϵ),∂tf−ϵ−cϵ∂xf−ϵ=λϵ2(f+ϵ−f−ϵ),f±ϵ(⋅,0)=f±,0.

Here x∈TL, t≥0 is measured in seconds, and f± have the units of a linear number density, m−1. The speed magnitude is c/ϵ, and from either velocity state the rate of switching to the opposite state is λ/ϵ2. Define the total density ρϵ:=f+ϵ+f−ϵ, the flux jϵ:=(c/ϵ)(f+ϵ−f−ϵ), and the total mass Mϵ(t):=∫0Lρϵ(x,t) dx.
