How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Static electromagnetic coupling and typed canonical momentum

Physical scope

Single nonrelativistic charged particle in a bounded spatial region with prescribed static C2 electromagnetic potentials; excludes source dynamics, field energy, radiation and quantum effects.

Definition

Let Ω⊂R3 be nonempty, bounded and open with compact closure, and let U be an open neighborhood of Ω‾. Let the static scalar potential be φ:U→R and the static vector potential be A:U→R3, both of class C2. Let m>0 kg, and let qp∈R C be the particle's signed charge; this model parameter is distinct from the exact elementary-charge constant e in Framework-local SI units, the vacuum constants and the exact/measured status of their values. Let velocity v∈R3 have units m s−1. The adopted single-particle Lagrangian is the function L:Ω×R3→R,L(x,v)=12m∣v∣2+qpA(x)⋅v−qpφ(x), with A in T m and φ in V, as in Framework-local SI units, the vacuum constants and the exact/measured status of their values. Its Legendre momentum is p:=∂vL=mv+qpA(x), so for every (x,p)∈T∗Ω≅Ω×R3 the inverse is v=(p−qpA(x))/m. The mechanical momentum is π:=p−qpA(x)=mv; the canonical momentum is the cotangent coordinate p of The momentum of a potential presentation: the fibre derivative of the mechanical Lagrangian, the Cartesian momentum Mv and generalized momenta. The Legendre transform H=p⋅v−L, in the convention of The Hamiltonian of a hyperregular potential presentation: the Legendre transform of the mechanical Lagrangian, its domain and its dimensions, is therefore H(x,p)=∣p−qpA(x)∣22m+qpφ(x). At fixed x, the velocity derivative has linear part mI3, so the displayed affine momentum map has the explicit inverse v=(p−qpA(x))/m. Substitution into p⋅v−L cancels the two qpA⋅v terms and gives 12m∣v∣2+qpφ; using the inverse gives the displayed Hamiltonian. The supplier The Hamiltonian of a hyperregular potential presentation: the Legendre transform of the mechanical Lagrangian, its domain and its dimensions provides the p⋅v−L convention for its hyperregular K−U mechanical presentation; the inverse branch for this velocity-linear electromagnetic coupling is the local calculation above, not a consequence of that supplier's K−U scope. The units are [qpA]= kg m s−1, [qpφ]= J, and [H]= J.

For a time-independent gauge function χ:U→R of class C3 (units V s), adopt the static convention of Potential representations, gauge transformations and the Lorenz and Coulomb conditions: Aχ=A+∇χ and φχ=φ. The corresponding canonical-coordinate change is Tχ(x,p)=(x,p+qp∇χ(x)); the mechanical momentum is unchanged under this paired transformation. This definition specifies an external-potential model only and asserts no existence of a global potential representation on arbitrary regions.
