How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Flat periodic and infinite channel domains

Definition

Fix lengths L1,L2>0 and width h>0. Define the periodic channel Ωper=(R/L1Z)×(0,h)×(R/L2Z) and the infinite channel Ω∞=R×(0,h)×R. Both have the product Euclidean metric. On Ωper, the first and third coordinates are periodic quotient coordinates with periods L1 and L2; differential operators are the ordinary coordinate operators applied to periodic lifts. On Ω∞, all three coordinates are ordinary real coordinates. The closures add the two wall faces at y=0 and y=h, and no other spatial boundary is imposed. For either channel Ω, let Γ:=∂Ω denote these two wall faces. A steady velocity field with a classical wall trace is a continuous map u:Ω‾→R3, with trace uΓ:=u∣Γ; prescribed steady wall data are a continuous map g:Γ→R3. A vector field is C∞ up to these walls when it is smooth in the interior and every spatial derivative of every order extends continuously to both faces on each compact coordinate patch. Its homogeneous no-slip boundary condition is uΓ=0; prescribed wall velocity means uΓ=g. For an evolution on a specified time interval I⊆R, the corresponding trace convention uses continuous maps u:I×Ω‾→R3 and g:I×Γ→R3, with uΓ(t,x):=u(t,x) and the same trace equalities on I×Γ; any additional time or spatial regularity and compatibility required by an evolution result are stated separately. These conventions assert no solution existence for prescribed data. The definition imposes no decay or other condition at infinity on Ω∞; such conditions must be stated separately.
