How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite weighted ensemble and covariance
Definition
Let be an integer and let satisfy . The fixed tuple is a finite ensemble of weights. For integers , let and . Define the weighted mean of and its th fluctuation by
Using the same weights, define the cross-covariance tensor
where is the matrix with entries . The covariance tensor of is . If is a set and , are functions, apply these formulas pointwise at each using the same fixed weights. No probability space, limiting operation, or interpretation as an empirical sample is part of this definition.
