How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Left Haar integral and left Haar measure

Definition

Let G be a group with a Hausdorff locally compact topology for which multiplication G×G→G and inversion G→G are continuous. The identity e belongs to G, so G is nonempty. Use Group and abelian group, Locally compact topological space: every point has a compact neighbourhood; and what this says in a metric space and Compact support, Cc(X), and C0(X). Set Laf(x)=f(a−1x) and Raf(x)=f(xa).

A left Haar integral is a nonzero positive real-linear functional I:Cc(G;R)→R such that I(Laf)=I(f) for every a,f; positivity has the meaning in Positive linear functionals on Cc(X). A left Haar measure is a nonzero Borel measure μ with μ(aE)=μ(E) for all Borel E and all a, finite on compact sets, outer regular on Borel sets and inner regular on open sets, exactly as in Radon measure on an LCH space. Right Haar replaces left translations by right translations. These are independent definitions; existence and their correspondence are established later. Complexification means I(u+iv)=I(u)+iI(v) for real u,v. No countability assumption on G is imposed.
