How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Multiplication of a distribution by a smooth function
Definition
For and a fixed smooth complex function define Multiplication of tests by preserves compact support and is continuous and linear by Test function operations are continuous. Composing it with the continuous linear functional of Distribution shows . There is no conjugation of in this bilinear convention.
The formulas give , , and by evaluation on every test; addition is distributive in either variable for the same reason. On the empty domain the construction gives the zero distribution. It requires no choice axiom. This operation is defined for a smooth multiplier; it does not define a product of two arbitrary distributions.
