How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Bosonic Fock number operator and counting PVM

Definition

Let H be a complex Hilbert space and let Fs(H)=⨁n=0∞Hs(n) be its bosonic Fock Hilbert space under Schwartz/distribution spaces and Hilbert Fock conventions. A vector is a square-summable sequence Ψ=(Ψn)n≥0 with Ψn∈Hs(n).

Define the number operator N by D(N)={Ψ∈Fs(H):∑n=0∞n2∥Ψn∥2<∞},(NΨ)n=nΨn.

For every Borel set B⊆R, define the sector projection EN(B)Ψ=(1B(n)Ψn)n≥0,Pn:=EN({n}). The definitions specify a candidate number observable and its candidate spectral projections. They assign no physical probability; well-definedness, self-adjointness, and the projection-valued-measure property are established by The Fock number operator has its sector counting PVM ↗.
