How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite-Jet Non-Abelian BRST Complex
Definition
Let , let be a nonempty open set with coordinates , and let be a finite-dimensional real Lie algebra with bilinear alternating bracket satisfying the Jacobi identity. Let be a finite-dimensional -graded complex vector space, and let be an even representation, meaning for all and each preserves the grading of . This is local Lie-algebra data; no global group, principal bundle, action functional, or quantum theory is selected here.
Choose a basis of and write . A local gauge potential is a -valued one-form whose component jet generators are even and have ghost number zero. A matter field is a -valued local field with each component jet generator assigned the parity of its graded component and ghost number zero. The ghost is , with odd component jet generators of ghost number one. The coefficient bracket of homogeneous -valued fields is , using multiplication in the graded-commutative coefficient algebra; in particular has no factor of .
For a multi-index , let denote the corresponding formal jet generator of a field component . The finite-jet local algebra is tensored with the polynomial algebra in its even jet generators and the exterior algebra in its odd jet generators, where each element uses only finitely many jet generators. The total derivatives act by on and on every jet generator; the multi-index derivatives commute.
Define the degree-one BRST operator candidate on the fields by
On coefficient functions set , and on every jet generator set ; extend to by the odd left-derivation rule for homogeneous , where is total parity. The minimal sector here contains only and their jets. Antighosts and Nakanishi–Lautrup variables are not included; adjoining such a nonminimal pair requires separate definitions and a proof before any cohomological triviality claim. The specified data are a BRST complex once , which is established for these formulas in the following nilpotence lemma.
