How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Four-dimensional real extended super-Poincare algebra

Definition

Use the complex field C with conjugation z↦z‾. Fix an integer N≥1. Let S=C2 have standard basis s1,s2. For a complex vector space W, its conjugate vector space W‾ consists of symbols w‾ for w∈W, with addition w‾+v‾=w+v‾ and scalar action λw‾=λ‾w‾. Set S˙=S‾ with dotted basis s˙1˙=s1‾ and s˙2˙=s2‾. Let F=CN have standard basis f1,…,fN, and let F∗ be its complex-linear dual with dual basis f1,…,fN and scalar action (λℓ)(v)=λℓ(v). All tensor products are over C, with scalar action λ(v⊗w)=(λv)⊗w=v⊗(λw) and product bases formed from the displayed bases. Define Λ2F=(F⊗CF)/span⁡C{v⊗v:v∈F}; its basis is fI∧fJ for 1≤I<J≤N, with quotient scalar action. Its conjugate Λ2F‾ has basis fI∧fJ‾ and the conjugate scalar action just defined. For N=1 these exterior-square spaces are zero. In the displayed bases, sl(S)={A∈End⁡C(S):tr⁡A=0} and sl(S˙)={B∈End⁡C(S˙):tr⁡B=0}. Put ϵ12=ϵ1˙2˙=1 and ϵ21=ϵ2˙1˙=−1, with zero diagonal. The complex even space is

g0ˉ=(sl(S)⊕sl(S˙))⊕V⊕CN,V=S⊗S˙,CN=Λ2F⊕Λ2F‾.

Write Tαβ˙=sα⊗s˙β˙ for the basis of V. The listed central generators form a basis of CN: ZIJ corresponds to fI∧fJ and ZˉIJ to fI∧fJ‾ for 1≤I<J≤N; extend them by antisymmetry in the flavor indices and set their diagonal entries to zero. The complex odd space is

g1ˉ=(S⊗F)⊕(S˙⊗F∗),

with basis QαI=sα⊗fI and Qˉα˙I=s˙α˙⊗fI. A homogeneous vector has parity ∣x∣∈{0,1}. The bracket is complex-bilinear, preserves parity, and obeys [x,y]=−(−1)∣x∣∣y∣[y,x]. Its complete nonzero table, apart from the graded-skew consequences, is

[(A,B),(A′,B′)]=([A,A′],[B,B′]),[(A,B),T]=(A⊗I+I⊗B)T,

[(A,B),QαI]=AγαQγI,[(A,B),Qˉα˙I]=Bγ˙α˙Qˉγ˙I,

Here Aγα is the entry in row γ, column α, so Asα=∑γAγαsγ; dotted entries use the same convention. Thus on the translation basis the tensor action is [(A,B),Tαβ˙]=∑γAγαTγβ˙+∑γ˙Bγ˙β˙Tαγ˙.

{QαI,Qˉβ˙J}=−2δIJTαβ˙,{QαI,QβJ}=2ϵαβZIJ,{Qˉα˙I,Qˉβ˙J}=2ϵα˙β˙ZˉIJ.

All other brackets vanish: V and CN are abelian, CN is central, and V brackets trivially with the odd space. The two antisymmetric factors in each equal-chirality odd bracket make that bracket symmetric in the combined spinor-flavor labels. The Lie-superalgebra and real-form properties are established by the local Jacobi result.

Define a conjugate-linear involution ∗ on the generators by

(A,B)∗=(−B‾,−A‾),QαI∗=Qˉα˙I,Qˉα˙I∗=QαI,Tαβ˙∗=Tβα˙,(ZIJ)∗=ZˉIJ,(ZˉIJ)∗=ZIJ.

It uses the operator-adjoint convention [x,y]∗=−(−1)∣x∣∣y∣[x∗,y∗]. The associated real Lie superalgebra is the fixed space of the conjugate-linear map τ(x)=−x∗ on even elements and τ(x)=ix∗ on odd elements. Its real Lorentz algebra is the fixed diagonal copy of sl(2,C); its real translation generators are the τ-fixed skew-Hermitian bispinors. The star-fixed translation coordinates defined below are abstract elements of the complex algebra; their multiples by i form a real basis of the tau-fixed translation space.

For the metric convention η=diag⁡(−1,1,1,1), put σ0=I2 and

σ1=(0110),σ2=(0−ii0),σ3=(100−1),σˉ0=I2,σˉj=−σj.

They obey

σμσˉν+σνσˉμ=−2ημνI2.

Define abstract translation coordinates p0=(T11˙+T22˙)/2, p1=(T12˙+T21˙)/2, p2=(T21˙−T12˙)/(2i), and p3=(T11˙−T22˙)/2. Then Tαβ˙=σαβ˙μpμ, pμ∗=pμ, and τ(ipμ)=ipμ. A representation of the complex supertranslation algebra t=V⊕CN⊕g1ˉ on a graded complex vector space D means a parity-preserving complex-linear map ρ:t→End⁡C(D) preserving the bracket, where the target bracket on homogeneous endomorphisms is [X,Y]=XY−(−1)∣X∣∣Y∣YX. Write Pμ=ρ(pμ) and use the charge symbols for their images. Thus ρ(Tαβ˙)=σαβ˙μPμ and the represented mixed relation is {QαI,Qˉβ˙J}=−2σαβ˙μPμδIJ, with Pμ=ημνPν. Complex linearity gives ρ(ipμ)=iPμ, hence −iρ(ipμ)=Pμ. For a real number M>0, a massive rest module here means such a supertranslation representation with P0=MID and Pj=0 for j=1,2,3. Consequently P0=−MID and its mixed anticommutator is 2Mδαβ˙δIJID. This is an algebraic specialization, with no assertion of a Hilbert adjoint or a spectral fiber. Here N counts left Weyl spinors; the scalar central-charge matrix is antisymmetric and therefore vanishes for N=1. Tensorial or topological extensions are outside this scalar-central-charge algebra. The convention uses natural units ℏ=c=1; translation and central-charge generators have mass dimension one and supercharges have mass dimension one-half.

Remarks

The separate positive unitary representation definition supplies a nonzero graded complex Hilbert space H, a joint momentum projection-valued measure E, self-adjoint coordinate integrals pμ(E) on their square-integrability domains, and a common dense invariant domain D. In that setting the algebraic images above are Pμ=pμ(E)∣D, and −iρ(ipμ)=Pμ on D. Self-adjointness and spectral assertions require those additional hypotheses; they do not follow from a representation on a graded complex vector space. The rest-module relation above applies on any separately supplied invariant domain on which the momenta have the stated scalar values; no existence of a nonzero spectral fiber is asserted here.
