How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Additive spectral Hamiltonian and normalized ensembles

Definition

Fix q≥1 and real level parameters e1,…,eq. Use the real exponential of The real exponential function and the number e by a power series and natural logarithm of The natural logarithm as the inverse of the exponential function. For N≥1, define the one-site diagonal matrix h∣j⟩=ej∣j⟩ and, for a=1,…,N, h(a)=I⊗(a−1)⊗h⊗I⊗(N−a),HN=∑a=1Nh(a). Thus the product basis vector ∣j1,…,jN⟩ has eigenvalue E(j1,…,jN)=∑a=1Neja; repeated level values remain distinct basis labels and therefore count as degeneracy.

For finite β∈R, put Z1=∑j=1qe−βej,pj=e−βejZ1,E=∑j=1qpjej. All terms in Z1 are positive, so Z1>0. Define the one-site canonical density γ=diag⁡(p1,…,pq). For N sites put ZN=∑(j1,…,jN)∈{1,…,q}Ne−β∑a=1Neja,γN=diag⁡(e−β∑a=1NejaZN)(j1,…,jN)∈{1,…,q}N. The mathematical definition permits β=0 and negative β as well as positive β; a physical positive-temperature interpretation is a separate assumption.

For a width δN≥0, define the spectral band label set and its projection by ΓN={(j1,…,jN):∣∑a=1Neja−NE∣≤δN},ΠN=∑j∈ΓN∣j⟩⟨j∣. Its rank is ΩN=Tr⁡ΠN=∣ΓN∣, which counts all basis vectors in the band, including degeneracy. When ΩN>0, define the normalized band density σN=ΠN/ΩN. If ΩN=0, this normalized density is undefined.
