How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Local charge current and finite-volume correlation conventions
Definition
Fix either a finite open chain with sites , , or a periodic chain with sites , , and denote its site set by . Let be a nonzero finite-dimensional complex Hilbert space. For each site , let be a bounded charge observable, with physical unit . For each oriented nearest-neighbor bond , let be an energy operator in joules. Require whenever , and require local charge conservation . On an open chain set ; on a ring set with periodic indices. For an open chain define the absent boundary currents . Use in joule-seconds. These finite local data may be realized on a tensor-product spin space or on a finite fixed-particle site space, provided the stated commutation conditions hold.
The oriented bond current from to is It has unit . The total current is the sum over existing bonds, , and its Heisenberg evolution for is . For finite inverse temperature in joules, define and . Write and . Define the real, connected, symmetrized correlation per site by The correlation has unit per site.
This definition assigns no transport coefficient by itself. Any proposed finite-volume or thermodynamic transport quantity must additionally state its time cutoff, frequency regulator (for example with in seconds), spatial normalization, and the exact order in which , the time cutoff tends to infinity, and any regulator is removed. Existence of those limits is not part of this definition.
