How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite energy-resolved GKSL thermal model
Definition
Let and let with its standard complex inner product. Let on be a Hamiltonian matrix with entries in joules, let have units joule-seconds, and let be a finite family of dimensionless Hermitian matrices, where . Write the finite spectral decomposition , where are pairwise orthogonal spectral projections and . The Bohr-frequency set is
whose frequencies have units seconds. For each and , define the dimensionless energy-resolved coupling
Let have units joules. For each , choose a finite rate matrix , with entries in seconds, that is positive semidefinite in the explicit sense that and for every , and require the thermal balance relation
Let be a Hermitian matrix with units joules satisfying . For dimensionless , the finite energy-resolved generator is the linear map
where , , and is the conjugate transpose. The finite sums define a linear map with units seconds. This is an adopted finite effective model specification; the definition asserts no microscopic weak-coupling convergence or physical applicability.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: , , , the finite Hermitian family , real inverse-energy parameter , finite positive rate matrices obeying the displayed balance relation, and commuting Hermitian , all with the types and units specified in the Definition.
Finite matrix spectral and state calculus: a finite Hermitian matrix has finitely many real eigenvalues and pairwise orthogonal spectral projections summing to the identity; finite spectral functions are basis-independent.
Proof
By [F1], is finite and the projections are well-defined, pairwise orthogonal, and sum to . Therefore is finite and symmetric, and each is a finite sum of endomorphisms of ; when or a frequency block is empty, the corresponding sum is the zero matrix.
Every term in the displayed formula is a product and finite sum of matrices on , so is a complex-linear endomorphism of . The Hamiltonian coefficient has units joules/(joule-seconds) = seconds; each dissipative term has units times dimensionless matrices. Thus the formula is a well-defined finite linear map with the stated units.
Remarks
The sign convention makes lower the system energy by when : it maps the eigenspace to the eigenspace with . The rate-matrix transpose in the thermal balance relation is tied to the displayed placement of and in the generator. No bath limit is part of this mathematical definition.
