How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

R page of the spectral sequence of a filtered complex

Definition

The r-page of a filtered complex is the family Ep,qr=Zp,qr/Bp,qr(r≥0), with the conventions of R cycles and r boundaries of an increasingly filtered complex. The quotient is licensed by R boundaries embed in r cycles. In particular Ep,q0=FpCp+q/Fp−1Cp+q.

For r≥1 this is canonically Zˉp,qr/Bˉp,qr: the kernel of Ap,nr→gr⁡pCn is Ap,nr∩Fp−1Cn=Ap−1,nr−1, since (p−1)−(r−1)=p−r. The image of the remaining denominator summand is exactly Bˉr; nested quotients in Spectral sequence subquotient and local lifting calculus give the comparison.

The formula uses only a finite filtration window at each position. More precisely, fix k≥0 and 0≤r≤k. The filtered complex Fp+kC/Fp−k−1C, with the induced filtration, gives canonically the same Ep,qr. Indeed the numerator test uses levels p,p−r≥p−k, and the denominator uses levels p−1,p+r−1≤p+k. The removed subcomplex has level p−k−1 below every test level, and its contribution in degree n lies in Ap−1,nr−1 when r≥1, because its differential stays at level p−k−1≤p−r. Thus inverse-image tests and the final quotient are unchanged; for r=0 this is directly the nested quotient Fp/Fp−1.
