How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Cost-zero type offsets and their difference space

Definition

For the type set G and cost F of Decorated finite-chain costs with catalysts, define the relation Γ≈0Γ′ by F(Γ,Γ′)=F(Γ′,Γ)=0. Let P:=G×G be the set of raw type pairs. Define a relation on raw pairs by

(A,B)≡(A′,B′)⟺∃C such that A×B′×C≈0A′×B×C.

The separate well-definedness lemma proves that ≈0 is an equivalence compatible with composition and positive scaling, that ≡ is an equivalence on P, and that the following operations are well-defined on its classes. After that proof, write VF:=P/≡. Define addition by [(A,B)]+[(D,E)]:=[(A×D,B×E)], negation by −[(A,B)]:=[(B,A)], and positive scaling by t[(A,B)]:=[(tA,tB)]. Set zero to [(1,1)], where 1 is the empty unit type. Complete scalar multiplication for all t∈R by 0[(A,B)]:=[(1,1)] and, for t<0, t[(A,B)]:=[((−t)B,(−t)A)]; here −t>0, so only the already specified positive scaling of types is used. The same lemma establishes that these operations make VF a real vector space; no vector-space law is assumed by this Definition.
