How statement and proof provenance work

The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.

  • Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
  • AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
  • AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.

These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Compact phase-generator mixture

Definition

Let K be a nonempty compact subset of Rd, d≥1, with its Borel sigma-algebra, and let a:K→R be continuous. The convex hull conv⁡K is the set of finite convex combinations of points of K. A phase generator is a point y∈K with declared energy a(y). A mixture is a Borel probability measure P on K. Its barycenter and mean energy are the coordinatewise Lebesgue integrals yˉ(P):=∫Ky dP(y)∈Rd,aˉ(P):=∫Ka(y) dP(y)∈R. These integrals are finite because each coordinate and a are bounded on compact K. For prescribed mean x∈conv⁡K, the mixture energy is amix(x):=inf⁡{aˉ(P):P is a Borel probability on K, yˉ(P)=x}. The admissible set is nonempty since every finite convex combination of points of K is the barycenter of a finite atomic probability. The definition does not assert that the infimum is attained; the theorem on this page gives a compact continuous sufficient condition.

Scope

The definition concerns a mathematical probability mixture and an assigned scalar energy. It does not assert that physical phases can be prepared, exchanged, or brought to equilibrium.
