How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A finite twisted-local-coefficient background and gauge shift
Example
Let be the ordered tetrahedron , let under addition, and let under addition. Define the action by and , and take . From vertex labels in , set and . These data form a finite 2-group background. For the 1-form gauge parameter with and all other edge labels zero, and with all vertex labels , the transformed fields satisfy , , and ; they form a gauge-equivalent background.
Facts & Assumptions
Finite 2-group background cochains: flat edge labels satisfy , the twisted tetrahedron equation is , and a 1-form parameter changes by .
Verification
Given: the groups, action, cocycle, vertex potential, and gauge parameter specified in the Example.
The edge labels are , , , , , and , so each triangle satisfies . Since and , the tetrahedron equation also holds.
With , the 0-form correction is zero and has values on and and on and : on the first two faces its formula is , and the other two faces contain only zero edge labels.
The transformed tetrahedron equation is . Thus the displayed nonzero face cochain is a valid gauge transform of the zero cochain.
