How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A Finite Boson–Fermion Pair in a Superconformal-Index Trace
Finite two-state graded Hilbert-space example of the index trace's boson–fermion cancellation. It is not a representation of the full four-dimensional N=4 superconformal algebra and asserts no continuum SCFT or empirical result.
Example
Let be a two-dimensional Hilbert space with orthonormal even state and odd state . For a fixed , define an odd operator by and , let , and set . With , both states have eigenvalue , so . The graded trace from the SCFT-index definition is
for every , equal to the trace on . This is a finite model of one supercharge pair only; it is not claimed to realize the full superconformal algebra or a four-dimensional gauge theory.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: The finite graded Hilbert space, operator , its adjoint , and specified in the example.
Four-Dimensional SCFT and Protected Observable Data: the index trace is with and commuting with both supercharges.
The states are an orthonormal basis, , and is a fixed positive real number.
Verification
From , , and , we have , , , and . Hence and , so the kernel is zero.
The even state contributes to the graded trace and the odd state contributes . Their sum is zero for every , and it equals the zero trace on the zero-dimensional kernel.
