How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Phase fractions from an additive molar volume
A constructed one-component, two-phase separated mixture with additive volume and fixed total amount; no coexistence data or measured material values are asserted.
Example
At a stipulated common , let one mole of a component occupy phase with molar volume or phase with . For this constructed model, additionally adopt amount-independent molar volumes at this fixed : for every admitted amount of phase , with equal to the displayed one-mole value. This is an explicit constitutive scaling assumption, separate from additivity between phases. Consider a separated mixture of total amount and total volume ; use the volume convention of Phase branches and coexistence domains and additivity of Additive separated systems and tagged bulk scaling.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: Both phases are present, their molar volumes and the mixture totals are as in the Example, and volume and amount are additive for this separated compound, and the additional constitutive assumption holds at the fixed for each admitted positive phase amount.
Phase branches and coexistence domains and Additive separated systems and tagged bulk scaling: For one component, the phase amounts add to , and the separated phase volumes add to .
Verification
Let and . Positivity and amount additivity give , with both fractions in . The adopted relation and volume additivity give
All terms have units .
Here . Solving the affine relation in step 1.1 yields
The fractions are positive and sum to one, so satisfies the given total amount and volume.
