How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A boundary reaction minimum with a one-sided extent
A constructed units-labelled tangent-cone optimization illustration with one zero-amount boundary; it makes no thermodynamic-equilibrium, material, or empirical claim.
Example
Use species , one reaction column , and starting amounts mol, mol. The admissible extents are mol because and must both be nonnegative. Let have units joules and define an ambient affine potential on an open neighborhood of the nonnegative amount region by
Along , set . Its derivative-defined amount coefficients are and , including at mol. This ambient extension is constructed optimization data only; no positive-mole thermodynamic chart at or physical realization is asserted.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The stoichiometric column, initial amounts, feasible interval, the C1 extension to a neighborhood of , the units of , and the values of . The extension and derivative data are constructed model premises.
The feasible tangent cone for nonnegative stoichiometric amounts: At the active boundary, the feasible tangent directions are exactly those with for each active species, and the derivative of the composed potential is .
Verification
Species is active because . By [F1], a tangent extent is feasible exactly when , or . The derivative data give , so for every feasible tangent extent. The units are joules because is in moles.
Directly, for every feasible mol, so the boundary point is a global minimum on this interval. The tangent-cone inequality is satisfied even though the interior equality fails.
