How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Two entropy-temperature calibrations preserve the same energy differential
Example
Use the abstract state family with coordinate , and define , , , and . These are formal real-valued functions with no physical units assigned. Then . The choices and , with offset , give and .
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The stated smooth state family and the calibration-freedom lemma.
On , , , and .
Classical first-law product leaves entropy-temperature calibration free: For every constant and offset , set and . Then . Distinct positive give distinct functions , and changing changes without changing its differential.
Verification
Given: [A1] and [F1].
The family is a nonempty connected smooth manifold, the displayed functions are smooth, , and . Direct differentiation gives , so the lemma's hypotheses hold.
Apply [F1] with and . The resulting functions are and ; hence and , although the temperatures and entropy gradients differ.
