How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
A conjugate representation reverses the cubic anomaly polynomial
Statement
Let , let have representation , and let be its dual representation. For a smooth background connection on a smooth manifold , use the induced dual connection and curvatures and . With the degree-six polynomial defined above, one has
For the canonical Chern–Simons transgression
the dual transgression satisfies . Thus any common linear descent of this conjugate pair has zero total cubic polynomial and zero total first consistent descent representative.

Facts & Assumptions
Given: The group , its defining representation , the dual representation , a smooth connection , its induced dual connection, and the cubic polynomial normalization.
Degree-six cubic trace polynomial for a chiral representation: , and the dual connection is represented by .
Proof
Transposing the curvature formula gives : for the one-form , graded transposition gives , so .
Since each entry of is a two-form, reversing the order of two curvature factors contributes . Hence . The three minus signs in therefore give by [F1].
For every , the same transposition calculation applied to gives . Thus the integrand defining is . The trace of a transpose reverses the order of the three factors; cyclically moving the degree-one factor past the two degree-two factors contributes sign . The integrand is therefore . Integration over proves the transgression identity and the stated cancellation under a common linear descent.
