How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Global unitary dynamics in the Gauss sector
Statement
Assume the model data of Exact compact U(1) rotor plus finite CAR data and the Axiom of Choice. Let be the self-adjoint Hamiltonian on the exact domain supplied by Rotor interacting Hamiltonian with exact domain, and let be the physical projection of Gauss operators, gauge group and nonempty physical projection. For any scalar , the family is a strongly continuous unitary group on , preserves , and satisfies It commutes with every gauge transformation and with . Hence is a reducing subspace and is a strongly continuous unitary group with skew-adjoint infinitesimal generator ; its self-adjoint Stone operator is . Equivalently, the restricted physical Hamiltonian is self-adjoint. This is an exact fixed-graph result; no continuum dynamics are asserted.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The finite-graph model, its gauge representation and physical projection, the self-adjoint operator , and the Axiom of Choice.
The Axiom of Choice is the principle that every family of nonempty sets has a choice function. The Axiom of Choice
Gauss operators, gauge group and nonempty physical projection: the operators form a strongly continuous unitary representation of and is the orthogonal projection onto their joint fixed space .
Rotor interacting Hamiltonian with exact domain: is self-adjoint on and there; preserves that domain.
Stone's theorem: unitary groups and self-adjoint generators: assuming the Axiom of Choice, every self-adjoint operator determines the strongly continuous group , whose generator has domain exactly and equals there; a strongly continuous unitary group is uniquely determined by its generator.
Proof
Given: [A1], [F1]–[F3], and .
Since is self-adjoint, is self-adjoint. Stone's theorem [F3] gives as a strongly continuous unitary group with the stated derivative at and exact generator domain .
For and fixed , the difference quotient at zero for equals and converges to . The exact domain characterization in [F3] therefore gives and .
For each , the conjugated family is a strongly continuous unitary group. By [F2], its generator is on exactly , the same generator as . Uniqueness in Stone's theorem gives for every .
Averaging the commutation over normalized Haar measure gives . Thus and its inverse preserve , and the restricted group is unitary and strongly continuous on that closed Hilbert subspace.
For , the restricted difference quotient is the same norm limit as in . It exists exactly when by [F3]; therefore the restricted group generator has domain and is there. Stone's theorem on identifies its self-adjoint Stone operator as . Since multiplication by the nonzero real scalar preserves self-adjointness, the restricted physical Hamiltonian is self-adjoint.
