How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.

Statement
For with and , one has . Equality holds exactly when and .

The real numbers form a totally ordered field: The reals form a totally ordered field.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: , , and .
The reals form a totally ordered field: the real numbers have a total order compatible with addition and multiplication; positive elements have positive products.
Proof
Given: [F1] and the hypotheses in the Statement.
By trichotomy, either , , or . In the first case . In either positive case, multiplying the positive element by itself gives a positive square; since , this proves , with strict inequality when .
The hypothesis and step 1.1 imply .
If , then . Step 1.1 shows a nonzero would have , so ; and .
If , then because . Otherwise . If , then and , so , contradicting step 2.1. Hence in all cases.
Conversely, if and , the hypotheses give with . If , then , contradicting equality of squares; if , then , the same contradiction. By trichotomy, . Equality holds exactly in the stated case.
