How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Diagonal gap for a decreasing integrable interaction tail
Statement
Let and let be a regular potential with a nonnegative nonincreasing envelope , where and . Thus for . For set Then and Moreover, there is a choice , for all sufficiently large real , such that , , and For every fixed finite configuration and all sufficiently large periods , the noncoincident periodic-image tail is absolutely convergent. The tail of the cell envelope over all sufficiently large integer offsets is summable. This lemma is a deterministic tail estimate; it uses no superstability or thermodynamic-limit conclusion.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: as in the Statement.
The lower regularity convention in Superstable regular pair interactions and configurational ensemble notation supplies a nonnegative nonincreasing tail envelope with finite weighted integral.
Proof
Given: The hypotheses and notation above.
Since is nonincreasing, for : on , , and integration of gives the displayed coefficient. Both the interval integral and the tail integral in tend to zero as , so .
For and , monotonicity gives and . Hence Since , summing over disjoint intervals yields . The term equals , so adding it proves the stated bound because .
For integer , monotonicity gives on , so . Since for these , summing over disjoint unit intervals proves .
For each integer , let be the least integer greater than such that for every ; it exists by step 1.1 and the well-ordering of the positive integers. Choose a strictly increasing sequence with and . For , let and . Then , and , while . Therefore This gives all three gap limits.
Fix distinct points in a finite configuration and a period . For larger than , the triangle inequality gives . Grouping lattice indices by and applying the sum bound of step 1.2 with gap shows whenever . There are finitely many remaining images; any term makes the periodic energy by definition, while otherwise their finite sum is well-defined. This proves the periodic-image convention used in Superstable regular pair interactions and configurational ensemble notation for all sufficiently large .
