How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Bounded-commutator graph-domain Schrödinger response
Statement
Assume the Axiom of Choice. Let be a separable complex Hilbert space, a densely defined Hamiltonian on with unit J, with unit J s, a positive trace-class density with and , and . Fix a reference energy in joules and equip with the graph norm . Let with unit . Assume and that on extends to a bounded operator on . Let be continuous for finite with in J, and let be dimensionless. Then the bounded-observable response and remainder from Trace-class bounded-observable response hold. In addition, with , , and , , the interaction-picture propagator maps onto itself, and is a strong solution on for each , meaning that belongs to for the graph norm and to , satisfies , and satisfies for every (with one-sided derivatives at the endpoints). No domain-preservation claim is made for a general bounded without the stated commutator hypothesis.
Facts & Assumptions
Given: The Axiom of Choice; self-adjoint ; bounded self-adjoint preserving ; bounded extension of ; continuous real ; and the trace-class response inputs from Trace-class bounded-observable response.
The Axiom of Choice: full Choice is assumed by the unbounded spectral calculus and carried from the normal-state response theorem.
Trace-class bounded-observable response: for bounded observables and a trace-class density commuting with , the response formula holds with the stated finite-time remainder, without an energy or entropy moment assumption.
A self-adjoint operator generates a strongly continuous unitary group: is strongly continuous, preserves , and differentiates there; its parameter is rescaled by from the supplier's convention.
Symmetric, self-adjoint and essentially self-adjoint operators: a self-adjoint operator is densely defined, closed, and equals its adjoint.
Banach-space Volterra and Dyson series with a norm remainder: on any complete normed space, a strongly continuous bounded coefficient has a unique norm-convergent Volterra solution; the same construction applies to the graph norm once that space is shown complete.
Proof
Given: [A1], [F1]–[F4] and the domain/commutator hypotheses in the Statement.
Use the graph norm on fixed in the Statement. If is Cauchy in this norm, then and in ; closedness of from [F3] gives and , so the graph norm is complete.
For and , invariance and commutation in [F2] give . Hence is uniformly bounded on the graph space by a constant depending only on . To check graph-norm continuity at , the Hilbert-norm part follows from strong continuity of ; for the -part use the displayed identity and continuity of and . The latter follows from whose two terms tend to zero by strong continuity of and the group law.
Apply [F4] on the graph Banach space with coefficient ; its Volterra series defines on . For any , solve the reversed-time graph equation with on ; then solves the forward equation and . Hence . On the Hilbert space the same coefficient is skew-adjoint, and the Hilbert clause of [F4] gives the unitary propagator used in the Statement; uniqueness identifies both constructions. The domain-preservation conclusion therefore uses the full-Choice spectral group hypothesis [A1] together with [F2], [F4] and the commutator condition.
For , the graph-space Volterra solution makes continuous and differentiable in graph norm. Also acts continuously on in graph norm because it is strongly continuous on both and and commutes with there. Thus in graph norm, and the product rule gives with . Using and , we obtain for every , with one-sided derivatives at the endpoints. For each fixed , is self-adjoint on : it is symmetric, and if , subtracting the bounded term in the adjoint functional shows , proving equality of the adjoint domain.
The trace-class response assertion is exactly [F1] under its stated density, stationarity, bounded-observable and control hypotheses; step 4.1 adds the strong Schrödinger realization only for the graph-domain class in this Statement. The two conclusions therefore retain their separate hypotheses.
