How statement and proof provenance work
The first chip identifies the source of the statement or construction; the second identifies the source of its local proof or verification.
- Literature-sourced: the exact statement appears in a cited source; only wording and notation differ.
- AI-adapted: a semantically identical restatement of literature-sourced material, modulo indexing, notation, and boundary cases adopted by the library.
- AI-generated: a genuinely novel statement formulated by AI, with no source for the claim itself.
These labels describe origin, not correctness: citations and verification chips remain separate evidence.
Finite-depth adaptive Simpson with an indicator
Definition
Input , an absolute indicator tolerance , a remaining depth and a positive panel-call budget , and a deterministic evaluation routine that returns a finite real value at a requested node or reports failure. It reports failure when a required node cannot be evaluated, including when its midpoint is unrepresentable in the evaluator's arithmetic. Apply the exact-real Simpson formulas of Composite Simpson rule on an even uniform grid to the returned values; floating-point rounding accuracy is not asserted.
Define the recursive call for , , and as follows.
- Compute and the five values of at
. On failure, return
failurewith no estimate. - Compute and from the two nested grids of Embedded Simpson refinement indicator, and put .
- If , return (
accepted, estimate , indicator ). - If and either or , return (
cap-reached, estimate , indicator ). - Otherwise put and
. Recursively call
and . If either returns failure,
return failure. Otherwise return the sum of their estimates and indicators,
with status
cap-reachedif either child has that status andacceptedotherwise.
The public call is . The budget counts recursive panel calls;
each call uses at most five point evaluations. accepted means that the
returned leaf indicators sum to at most . Neither that status nor the
indicator is a certified true-error statement. A cap result is an estimate
with explicit cap-reached status, not a successful tolerance claim.

3 results within two dependency steps of this one, each drawn at its shortest distance from it. An arrow runs from a result to what uses it, so the chart reads left to right and ends at this result, which carries a heavier outline. Every node is a link to that result.
